This will be a quick post as I can see the minutes ticking by as I sip a morning coffee at an internet cafe in Bethnal Green. Just wanted to talk about some of the amazing opportunities we’ve had here in the UK thus far. We started off in Birmingham, where we played a lovely comedy club called the Glee Club and met perhaps one of the nicest show promoters in the world, a charming fellow named Marcus. Then we hit the road back to London, and caught a few hours sleep before heading over to the London Eye. We met up with our buddies the Acorn, as well as two other great bands from Bella Union, the Low Anthem and My Latest Novel. We took turns riding up in the eye and playing acoustic sets. So now we can say we’ve played our highest show ever! If you want to see pics of us on top of the world – click this link.
Then we caught a quick nap and headed over to Scala, an amazing venue near kings cross station. In the hands of the Acorn’s tour manager/soundperson extraordinaire Nico, we felt confident that we’d have a good sounding show. It was so much fun, and the audience in London was wonderful, very supportive and attentive. The Acorn blew us all away with a killer set, which even featured Howie climbing up on the big speakers when Rolf sang ‘panda panda climb your tree’. Needless to say, they had the audience eating out of the palm of their hands!
This afternoon, we’re off to brunch with the folks at Bella Union, and then tonight we’ll be playing with the Low Anthem at the Slaughtered Lamb. Looking forward to it!
And finally, just a quick shout out of thanks to Emily and Becky for letting us crash in their flat, and to our rad driver Scott who puts up with all our drunken post-show shenanigans!
Hope this finds you well,
