BEACONS SEES THE LIGHT OF DAY.
After a whirlwind of preparation, Beacons finally sees the light of day (today!) in Europe via Bella Union.
It has been a long time coming – emotions have culminated; they pulse and pound in my chest. With its rusty inception in the Bellwoods basement to the ever evolving landscapes that passed while recording it (Muldrew Lake, Banff, Cereal Loft) we are very proud of this album and are so happy to finally be able to share it with you. We are also very pleased to announce that we’ve joined Last Gang Records (New Pornographers, Metric, AC Newman), so Beacons will be released tomorrow (June 2, 2009) in digital format. On June 16th the physical cd will be available in Canada, and June 23rd in the USA. You can see Beacons tracklisting and download “Black Ice” by visiting the “sounds” section of our website.
In celebration, our cd release PARTY will take place at Toronto’s Opera House on June 25 with our good friends The Great Bloomers and Evening Hymns. Tickets can be purchased at Soundscapes, Rotate This, in Toronto and Ticketmaster everywhere else. Prior to that, we will be playing an acoustic show in store at our beloved record shop Soundscapes (572 College St) in Toronto on June 17th, 2009. This is a free show and will start promptly at 7pm. Along with these shows, we have a few festival dates lined up for the summer, and tours in Europe and North America planned for the fall, please visit the “shows” section for more information.
Also in the works is a music video for the song New Years, directed by Exploding Motorcar. There will be volcanoes exploding, monsters stirring – we are excited!
Thank you for your continuing support, we are very grateful, and we hope to see you in the near future.
